1. To create a new printer override, select Add Printer Override from the Select A (user name) printer window.
2. A Select An Override window will appear with a list of forms and labels that can have a printer override. When printing the form or labels, the system will automatically default to the printer specified.
Note: Any prompts that will conflict with the override must be turned off. For example, if you wish to print orders to a specific printer and invoices to a different printer automatically, you must turn off the forms print prompt in Change Printer Prompts (see above) and set the override for each form to go to their respective printers for the override to work correctly.
3. Scroll to the form or label to set the override printer for, and press Enter.
4. A Windows printer dialog box will appear. Click on the arrow at the end of the printer name field to view a list of all printers installed on the workstation. Scroll up or down the list until you find the printer to use as the override printer for the form selected, then press Enter or select OK. See your network administrator for more information on how to use the Windows printer dialog box.
5. At the 11 INCH FORM (Y/N) field, select Y (Y=Yes) if using the short form version of the sales order or bill of lading and the printer selected is a plain paper printer that prints at 11 inches versus the actual form length for the form selected. Select N (N=No) if the printer is pre-loaded with the correct form length paper, label, or form.
6. When finished, the following command options will appear:
- Add – Select Add to add the printer override. After the override is added, the user will return to the Select An Override window. You may add another override or opt to exit. Select one form at a time and associate it with a printer from the Windows printer selection box which will appear. You may add another override or opt to exit.
- Exit – Select Exit to return to the Select A (user name) printer window.
To change or delete an existing printer override
1. Select the form or label from the Select A (user name) printer window that appears and press Enter.
2. The following command options will appear:
- Change – Select Change to change the default printer.
- Delete – Select Delete to delete the default printer.
- Exit – Select Exit to return to the Select A (user name) printer window.
Note: Labels templates can be set up to have a specific printer override which will override any printer orders for the type of label when the label template is created in Labels.
